Research in the Department

Our department aims to develop rehabilitation techniques and devices to assist and/or improve the movements of the disabled persons. We are also conducting basic research on the musculoskeletal and the neural systems that may lead to clinical applications.

Ongoing projects include:
1. Mechanobiological study on the organismal homeostasis
2. Research on repair and regeneration of the injured spinal cord
3. Development of a novel rehabilitation strategy for spinal cord injury
4. Biomechanical and neurophysiological studies of human gait and upright standing
5. Etiology of pressure sores and development of the equipment preventing pressure sores
